Psychotherapy and Counselling Saffron Walden

Jane Rushton MA. DipPsych.

Welcome to my website. I hope that these pages help you to explore how counselling or psychotherapy with me could help you.

I am a qualified and UKCP registered psychotherapist and counsellor. I have over 20 years experience of working with people with emotional and psychological difficulties in both the NHS and in private practice.

My experience over many years has convinced me that talking about the difficulties in a reliable setting with someone trained to hear them can help you make sense of your feelings and behaviour and in turn gain perspective, insight and understanding. You may discover new awareness of the causes and effects of long-standing conflicts and find a way of being that is more creative.

Looking for help may be hard and finding my website may have been a difficult step for you.You may be trying to come to terms with pain or disappointment or you may feel overwhelmed by what is happening in your life. Maybe you are feeling sad or lonely, anxious or angry and it may be difficult to like yourself or others. Current difficulties may stir up painful thoughts and feelings from the past. You may have turned to your family or friends or tried to sort out your difficulties yourself, sometimes with success, sometimes without. You may realise that certain issues remain unresolved, and that seeing a therapist may help you to deal with these issues.

My counselling and psychotherapy practice is based in the centre of Saffron Walden, Essex and I am within easy reach of Cambridge, Royston, Bishops Stortford, Harlow, Great Dunmow, Haverhill and Braintree.

I have experience of working with people and providing therapy for a wide range of problems, including :

  • Depression
  • Anxiety and fear
  • Eating problems
  • Stress
  • Compulsive thoughts
  • Childhood Trauma
  • Abuse
  • Self harm
  • Problems around sex or sexuality
  • Bereavement
  • Redundancy

Mic Wright journalist wrote in the Telegraph saying "I'm in therapy and I am not ashamed to admit it." He sought psychotherapy because of depression. He says "The beautiful quality of therapy is a private relationship, a two way thing".
